Thiel's ongoing war on education:
Palantir thinks college might be a waste. So it tried hiring 22 high-school grads for a fellowship. https://www.wsj.com/business/palantir-thinks-college-might-be-a-waste-so-its-hiring-high-school-grads-aed267d5?st=gaTU1P

@jeffjarvis
TL;DR (before my first cup of coffee.)

When one of those fellows decides that Palantir is not their cup of tea, what will happen when they go looking for their next job with no formal education?

I'm sure there are many things wrong with higher education. There were problems when I attended some 40+ years ago. Why not try to fix that? Hopefully that's the approach at Palantir.

I also remember when tech employers were hiring those with less than a degree before the crash...

@HankB @jeffjarvis they have to "disrupt" everything. That's how they break established systems and create their own monopolies. So it is probably not far fetched to think that he'll eventually found a new education system to redirect the huge amount of money that's going to education at the moment to himself.
