#fediverse #linux bubble i'm currently raeding stuff about xlibre. I'm an old time linux user and i'm loving my linux how it is. I struggle a lot with systemd and stuff and the idea why we need it. I know i sound like an old grumpy computer person which i definetly am due to what i saw in all the years in tech. Big tech is always "leading" and telling you how your tech is not state of the art. So what is your opinion on #xlibre and please be nice to each other.
@m3tti first I heard of it. I've been on the wayland train for a long time and not looking back, but I do appreciate there are people who still want to move X forward. It seems a lot of distributions and taking a wait and see approach to packaging xlibre, which seems reasonable at this point. The fork is still pretty recent.
Let's talk about XLibre

Or, maybe, let's *not* talk about this? And just move on as nothing happened?

@etam ok this is some detail i haven't known. Thanks for sharing.

@m3tti I know lefties tend to dislike Xlibre because of political disagreements with its lead developers / maintainer.
Putting politics aside though it’s pretty much just continued Xorg slowly adding updates which haven’t been added in the last couple of years thanks to a silent feature freeze on the Xorg project.

I use it as my main display server because I don’t like Wayland and it functions as a simple drop-in replacement for Xorg.
