I accidentally discovered a new-to-me feature in Sakura (also in Konsole). If I hit F11, I'll get a truly full screen version of the console ... while still having the extra benefits that come with running it in a GUI as opposed to a virtual terminal.

(Example things that work better from the GUI side: changing font size, better color support, better mouse integration.)

@EveHasWords That checks out, F11 is the full-screen shortcut for some apps, especially browsers like Firefox or the Element desktop app for Matrix  On others like LibreOffice it opens a sidebar, so it's the "surprise me" key I guess!
@ljwrites Yeah, I use it on purpose in browsers and such but it never occurred to me that a terminal emulator would do that. If I used LibreOffice for writing, I'd rather F11 did go full screen with menu bars and buttons tucked up out of sight. Can't win 'em all, I guess.
@EveHasWords Yeah Ctrl+Shift+J is not the most intuitive shortcut for going fullscreen. I guess it could be switched around with F11 for opening the style sidebar, but my results playing around with LibreOffice shortcuts have been uneven so I don't have the courage xD

@ljwrites I tend to avoid changing keybindings too. If I do change one, everything seems broken whenever I use a fresh install of the app or go to a computer where I haven't meddled with it.

(It's kind of fun that LibreOffice Writer's Full Screen mode is almost exactly what I'd hoped it would be. If I ignore that weird floating button. And the unnecessary ruler.)

@EveHasWords When I turn off the ruler in normal mode it won't show up in full screen mode either, at least in the version I use. I think I might also have stumbled on a bug that mostly disappears the floating button as well: When I drag the button to the top of the full-screen app the button is docked to a narrow menu bar that appears for the purpose, which somewhat defeats the purpose of full-screen mode, but when I leave and then return to full screen the button no longer appears anywhere and the same remains true when I close and reopen Writer. The button shows up docked at top at first, but disappears on subsequent full-screen views. W00t!
@EveHasWords
I know various other packages support it, but one of the things I like most about VS Code is the config sync. My laptop, desktop, virtual machines, OCI, Github Codespaces, etc. all share the same minimal config
