Here are the 25 best pieces of Horror Fiction of the 21st century so far... - Leminal Space

Lemmy

I’m ashamed to say I’ve read fewer than half of these, but at least this means I had quite a lot of (unknown to me) books to seek out!

Eh The Ritual is a great movie, and I wish the movie had more of part1 of the book in it. But part2 of the book was …not the best.

House of leaves dosnt really deserve to be #6 on the list. Interesting book though.

What are your top 3?

I did quite enjoy the original novel of The Ritual but I’m surprised to see it take the number 1 spot. I’m also a fan of House of Leaves.

Of the 25 books here, my top three would John Langan’s The Fisherman (he is a superb writer); the Ligotti collection; and the Laird Barron collection.

I actually recently ventured in to this genre because there was a post talking about Our Share of Night. I got the audiobook because I wanted to finish it in October but my reading plate was too full to do it any other way. The book was very well written and I can see why it’s such a hit, but unfortunately I don’t think I vibe with the genre well enough to appreciate it appropriately. Still, I’d recommend it to anyone who does like the genre
My trust in this list was shattered when I saw The Ritual at #2. I’m sure his writing is good but his intense bigotry should have disqualified his works
