I tried to relax for the last few days which resulted into playing a few short games and listening to some old music, mainly Peter Gabriel and Pat Metheny.

Regarding games (all running smoothly on Steam Deck):

First is Dispatch - a lovely telltale-type of game about superheroes with a lot of influence from Critical Role folks (including voice acting). I love the first two episodes - next two will be available tomorrow. Really interested in how it all ends. And it's pretty darn good craftsmanship - no part of game really stands out as something unique, but together, it plays very well, like a well oiled machine. Maybe the minigames could've been harder and more complex - but it's a telltale-style game, so more of an interactive movie than a game (in a good way, ofc) 😃

Second is Between Horizons - an almost hard sci-fi detective pixel art game set on a generational starship. I have to say that at least two cases in the game are really not intuitive and should've been polished better, but overall, after really slow start and getting familiar with a little bit clunky interface, I couldn't stop until I solved all the mysteries. It reminded me of the good old days when I was reading Clarke, Lem, Asimov and others. My personal recommendation is to prepare a few papers and a pen to take notes to solve the cases properly 🙂

The third is Somerville - a really art-ish sci-fi game about alien invasion. To be honest, I loved the vibes and visuals, liked the sound design, but the story left me somewhat unfulfilled and I really think it could've been less generic and more science-fiction and complex. On the other hand, the whole story is told without any voice nor text, purely by action, visuals and sound, which is a nice feat and it's hard to pull-off right.

Overall, really nice five day vacation I had. Finally got some sleep and I managed not doing almost anything on my main projects.

Dispatch is a superhero workplace comedy where choices matter. Manage a dysfunctional team of misfit heroes and strategize who to send to emergencies around the city, all while balancing office politics, personal relationships, and your own quest to become a hero. All episodes out now!

So, after drops of next four chapters, I have to say that Dispatch is steadily an amazing game, very well written and I'm in love with all the characters now. Can't wait for the last two chapters next week.

It's so good I keep two saves and I play one purely myself and one with friends on a couch, where they tell me what responses to choose, so they're involved, but also enjoying it just as a TV series, that's how good it is.

Also, puzzles got more challenging, but not for the reasons I like - for some reason, the hacking minigames are lagging a lot and struggling around 15-20 FPS on Steam Deck, so when they pushed up the difficulty, it became barely playable and I often just overshoot the heading of the hacking orb because of the lag :-( I hope they'll do something about it, it's graphically just a very simple game.

@kayla THX considered playing dispatch because i liked the idea. Now that I know it's telltale-style and influenced by Critical Role Folks it goes on my to play stack for certain.
