Best general ebook reader for Android? - Lemmy.World

Hey nerds, As the title says I’m looking for a good, robust ebook reader for Android. I dont need much, just something that can handle all kinds of file types with basic quality of life features, like page remembering and custom naming of files. I currently use ePub Reader [https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=epub.reader] (Google Play link) which has been good but limited. Namely, I don’t believe it handles color (or at least I cannot find a way to toggle it off of black and white). Appreciate any recommendations but please no subscription services!

I’m using Librera FD. It’s on f-droid and works amazingly for everything mentioned and more
I feel like I’m going crazy but is ePub Reader just a version of Librera? For that matter, do you know how to toggle color? Main reason behind this post was that I recently downloaded some art books that are kind of useless without color display
Ha, I didn’t remember what I used so I grabbed my phone to try Librera FD, and realized I already use it.
Librera FD, hands down the best reader on Android.
Thanks! Installing it right now

Two other people have commented librera, but I’m here to suggest librera instead. I’ve used a few ereaders and of the open-source ones for a droid, it is very good.

librera on fdroid

You suggest librera instead of librera???

Also linking a download link directly instead of the page that describes it is bad form.

Book and PDF reader

Oh whoops, I didn’t realize I was linking to the download. My mistake!
Tbh, I think librera would be a way better choice. Don’t listen to this guy OP
I use KOReader on my Android phone, laptop, and Kobo. It’s pretty great. You can sync reading position between the various devices and download books from e.g. Dropbox and Webdav. Available through FDroid and their web site, not Google Play.
I think there is a free version, but I paid a one time fee for the paid version of MoonReader. Easily the best e-reader app that I have ever used, and I’ve used at least a dozen trying to find one that I liked. Within a day of using MoonReader, I had paid for the premium version and quit searching. That was it. I was finally happy with an ereader app. It’s been about 4 years now, and I’m still happy.
