Oh look, another rich, white billionaire saying #climatechange isn’t so bad

https://www.cnn.com/2025/10/28/business/bill-gates-climate-change

What does Microsoft need from the US Government, Bill? I know you’re not CEO any more, but this reeks of the same fucked up bullshittery we saw Tim Apple do at the White House.

OH, and congratulations on the shitty timing. You know, just as #Jamaica faces the largest storm in its history….

And look, the crux of what he’s saying is “ tackle hunger, and disease” but if you don’t tackle climate change as well, those other things will get WORSE. This isn't an 'either, or' situation.

We have to tackle anthropogenic climate change. We have to tackle hunger. And we have to tackle disease. We can't do just one. We have to do all of them, and that means... changing how we deal with world wealth.

Tax the rich. Build a society where all have a chance to thrive… not just a few.

Bill Gates makes a stunning claim about climate change

In a stunning and significant pushback to the “doomsday” climate activist community, Bill Gates, a leading proponent for carbon emissions reductions, published a remarkable essay Tuesday that argued resources must be shifted away from the battle against climate change.

CNN
@aminorjourney What happened to Gates? Does obscene wealth cloud the mind?
He wants to shift money away from mitigating climate change to tackling hunger and disease? Climate change is already causing starvation and spread of disease around the world, and it will only get worse with time.

@Barbramon1 @aminorjourney you're criticising him for trying to help, just not in the way you'd prefer.

Take a look at yourself in the mirror. You're part of the problem. What about the billionaires hoarding their money?

Seriously, get a grip.

@pavsmith @Barbramon1

In order to tackle hunger and disease, we need to also tackle climate change.

We need to deal with climate change because it will impact how we can grow food. We need to deal with climate change because it will impact the spread of diseases around the world -- and we need science-driven, evidence-based approaches.

Right now, the world - and apparently many of the world's wealthy -- are pushing away from that.

Am I part of the problem? Sure. I run a channel focusing on encouraging people to make their transportation cleaner, greener, safer, smarter and more equitable. I try to have a small footprint. I grow my own food. I try to be ethical in my consumerism (although that's difficult, almost imposible).

But climate change - and tackling it - has to be at the top of our priority list ALONG WITH tackling inequality, food insecurity, and positive health outcomes. Climate change exacerbates the other issues.

@Barbramon1 @aminorjourney
Nothing happened, he was always evil. That's how he got rich. Then they let him into the rich boys club, where they plan world-spanning evil. This is just part of that.

@aminorjourney

Being a billionaire needs to be illegal. It's too much power for one person, it lets them manipulate the world undemocratically without any checks or balances.

They can live where they want, lobby for whatever laws they want, get away with practically anything because everyone wants a tiny portion of their cash.

@aminorjourney probably the epstein files
@aminorjourney The real answer is IMPEDE the creation of such wealth for a few and have them fall back on the ground as a large part of this wealth is hypothetical based on an estimated share value.

@aminorjourney

Imagine being that wealthy and still being controlled by profits.

It's a mental illness.

@aminorjourney Is Bill in the Epstein files, yes.
@aminorjourney Hunger wouldn't even be a problem without capitalism, billionaires, and other superrich psychopaths. So fuck Bill Gates. He gets the wall like the other ones.
@aminorjourney "the Epstein effect" is very strong with this one... Likes of Jobs were lucky, they didn't live to choose his path in this era as every hero the society has put up pretty much has ended up doubling down on the villain arc.

@aminorjourney

He's talking out the side of his face. He's abandoning the planet because he wants to invest in AI.

But it's the acting like "hunger and disease" are bigger issues while exacerbating root causes that makes him a smarmy hypocrite.

@aminorjourney everything bill gates says is class warfare.
