@eri Yeah, if it's bash, Ctrl-R, start typing a substring of what you're looking for

it's a bit wonky about if you need to backspace, and at the mercy of the wonkiness of writing out history when shells exit cleanly, but super helpful for pulling up 'that flag-riddled command line for that one thing'
