Every manicured lawn is an act of war on nature.

We call it tidy.
Nature calls it ecocide.

A short read from County Meath about why mess is more — and how tidiness is quietly killing our wildlife.

The Global War on Mess: How We’re Mowing Nature to Death | Gardeningwell

Short lawns. Clipped hedges. Sprayed edges. We call it ‘tidy.’ Nature calls it war!

@gardeningwell Seán Ronayne calculated that the area of ground covered by lawns in Ireland is equal to that of the entire Wicklow National Park.
@psneeze I think it’s terrible. Of course there is a place for lawns if people wanna have the kids run around and play football, etc. But why are we making it the default for all back in front gardens! I blame the Victorians, back then having short grass was a sign of wealth. “He’s so rich he doesn’t need to grow crops on that land!”
@gardeningwell The Victorians also believed man should dominate Nature. It was man's divine duty to control the natural world. Victorians were arseholes.
@psneeze I agree in the main.
