I'm not uncritical of processed foods.

But the conservative obsession with them is very much about convincing women to feel super guilty about using innovations that enabled us to unshackle ourselves from the kitchen.

I'm aware that I often post multi-toot breakdowns of kinda involved kitchen witchery -- and I'm proud of being a good scratch cook! But I do that because it's an INTEREST.

If it's a choice you have to balance about what's best for them, it's probably better to choose having time for your family.

And it's def better for *you* not to be expected to produce perfect organic masterpieces at every meal or else you are a bad mom.

They def want you to feel that you need to get back in the kitchen.

@thekitmalone They also want to flog their own food products, nutritional supplements, self-help books, “lifestyle” programs, etc.
@thekitmalone I have time maybe once a month to make a fully from scratch meal, because I’m the freaking breadwinner. These people need to get out of here with the convenience food shaming.
@suzannealdrich And also this idea that women have to be the default people who make sure anybody gets fed at all!
So, it's OK to criticize processed foods, if you specify that it is the man who should be shackled to the kitchen.
@cy yes. that is definitely an accurate takeaway.
I am known for my accurate takeaways. 🙃
