@zeph ugh. I have had this argument with one of my besties, she thought she was being supportive. I kept trying to explain why I took issue with it, and finally said, "trans people are the butt of that joke, and it's only funny if you are also laughing at trans people."

I could hear the lightbulb click on from several states away, and the argument was gone.

@Lucaas many such cases unfortunately but I'm glad it did click. I've seen people make the same argument to use R slurs at maga because they'll hate it, which yeah they would but come on.

@zeph @Lucaas Tbh I don't even think it makes them mad because they do the whole thing where they say "oh! looks like you don't have any points to defeat my 'facts and logic' so you have to resort to ad hominim." So not only are they using a slur, they are using it on people who just laugh at you when you call them that.

So it does nothing but make them look like an abelist shitheel.

@zeph @Lucaas And while I hate to be the stereotypical "avoid conflict at all costs" type people, if they make one angry enough to use the R slur, then not only do I think it doesn't make them mad, I actually think it makes them ecstatic.

That's why I don't debate them, because they won't listen and act irritating enough to drag someone down to their idiotic level while beating them with the home team advantage.

@KurganSunstrider @Lucaas Absolutely, there is more room for arguing with the centrist types because at least they can feel normal human emotions usually, but those super chuds are beyond hope and reason.
