I am not getting the reference but cool.
I bet you’re totally amped for the sequel, huh?
the first movie was pretty good. the second one though, the whole way reinfection happened made me turn off the video player and delete the movie on the spot.
Yeah the second one started with a bang and fell off hard.

I enjoyed the first two movies but yeah, THAT is what they want to turn into a trilogy? I don’t imagine the third one will ever see the light of day. The plot was nonsense and so much of movie felt self-indulgent.

Not to mention the jumpsuit guys are based on one of the most prolific sex offenders/pedos in British history! I will definitely be skipping whatever they pump out next.

Jimmy Savile - Wikipedia

Not to defend the movie or anything but my understanding is that based on the movie’s timeline none of the characters knew that he was a Serial pedo becase the rage virus hit in and i think that is the point.

I got through it by thinking it’s a whole separate thing, unrelated to prior movies.

I also knew who Jimmy Savile was, which makes the Super Brit tracksuit wearers all the weirder. Why pick that pedophile to style your horror movie crew. I can see a mile out that the Brit crew will turn baddie in the next movie but unless they’re pedo bad and treated by the movie accordingly, I dislike it. It would be like physically styling them after Hitler while ignoring the genocide side.

The virus started before the allegations came to light so it could go either way
I was thinking of the movie writers’ decision to style them that way. They knew about the allegations. So they decided to style characters after a known pedo and then … we’ll see if they do anything with that in the sequel but so far, feels weird.
Yep and I get that. I’m not sure of it myself
I didn’t connect the tracksuits with Jimmy Saville for one second for what it’s worth. They were a huge craze in the UK and Ireland in the 90s.
Other than the text crawl in the beginning it had nothing to do with any other movie.
It’s not for you, as you’ve said yourself you didn’t get what it was doing. That’s not a criticism of you, it’s just not a style that you connect with. That’s fine, but maybe try and open your mind a bit and try to understand why a lot of people think its good.
Yes, let the shite flow…
No thanks it is a 2 hour diversion, I will just move on…
I mean, you took the time to write this post. But if a 2 hour diversion is all you want from cinema then that explains why you didn’t get it.
I feel you man. Like I was on board at first, thought the kid would get infected after running back to the village, instead got a rug pull, and then some hobbit journey with homeboy and cancer Mom. I kind of liked the way things went from then, but then that fucking ending? Like what in the post apocalyptic clockwork buttfuck fruit basket was that?

but then that fucking ending? Like what in the post apocalyptic clockwork buttfuck fruit basket was that?

Lmao I am saving that one.

They really should have waited until 2031 to release this.
I thought it was incredible. Really looking forward to the next (hopefully) two.
Me too! I absolutely fucking loved it. It has faults and I understand why people didn’t like it but I can not WAIT for the next one. The scene with the mum in the temple is one of the greatest cinematic scenes I’ve ever seen

Same, perfect start to a new trilogy rather than the bookend to what people think is the orginal trilogy but isn’t.

I’m pretty sure Garland and Boyle hate the second one and don’t count it, it was awful without the involvement. They signed away the rights to the sequel for more control over the first one.

What was the incredible part?
Agree. After I watched it I said “what the fuck” seriously not sure how they made it so shitty
After reading these comments, I just want to see it for the pedophile power rangers at the end. But I’ll wait till it leaks online.
/boggle. They are on screen for less than 30 seconds but hey have at it.
I’m not even planning on watching the whole thing. I’ll just skip to the end.
Agree with everything you said. It was like Alex Garland had a sketchbook of all the random ideas he had for the franchise, and they turned it into a movie. Sometimes I think a movie is bad, but I don’t harp on it because everyone has their opinion. But the sheer grandiosity of the positive reviews on this movie are so far from my experience, I just feel so confused.
I know I am beyond baffled that anyone could say this is a good movie.

When it comes to rotten tomatoes it’s more did you like it or did you not.

Let’s say you everyone gives it a 6/10, then the movie will be mostly fresh. As a 4/10 would be rotten.

I enjoyed 28 years later for what it was but would I say it’s a great movie, no, I would say I had fun with it.

The random clips from old era shows or movies gave it a low budget feel like someone just tossing in stuff who hasn’t edited before, but being creative because that’s what the class assignment called for.

But, aside from that the opening was alright, but the rest of the film after the father just felt pretty forgettable and dull to me like a toned down boring version of Apocalypse Now with a very boring Kurtz.

Felt like critics just liker the kid learning about death trope that’s been done a dozen times. Thought it was just average and didn’t get the glowing reviews. Maybe sequel will be better.

How am I just now noticing the symbol is made of skulls? I kept thinking they were cells like a virus.
That is a lot of words to say you got filtered
