Almost 2 years after starting it I show this: a homemade tool for knitting typography.
I first designed pixel fonts in Libre Office Calc to get letters made for knitting, as a knitting stitch is similar to a pixel in an image.
Then I developed a web tool using HTML canvas, so I could use the pixel fonts exported as images and write text with it.
Last step: the canvas with text is exported as an image, and I make a knit work out of this image with AYAB.
Still experimental but starts working fine
And here are pictures of the knit works made using the tool
@ameliedumont oh wow, that is such pretty typography!
I hacked together a web app for generating AYAB compatible images and texts last year for a course I co-taught, so people could more easily get going with the machine (also because I wanted to integrate with R for knitting data visualizations, that works in theory but I still have to get around doing it 馃槉).
Maybe we could somehow incorporate your typography?

@mario_angst_sci this is such a nice project! If my typographies are compatible with your tool it would be great to incorporate.

You can take a look at my code here: https://gitlab.com/ameliedumont/residence-green-fabric/-/tree/main/Tricot%20machine%E2%81%84Knitting%20machine/Canvas_tricot?ref_type=heads

Also the letters set of the fonts are not complete for now, I still have to work on it
