I really hate how often DIY shows are basically online presale tickets only now. I get that it makes being a promoter a lot easier but it also encourages a cashless society and that is fascism-adjacent at best. Bring back physical tickets sold at record stores / at the door of your other shows. Or I dunno, come up with some kind of membership system where one can pay cash money into an “account” that can be used for show entry, or something. Be creative. Yes that’s more work for you but when convenience plays into the devils hand, you have to remember why DIY punk exists in the first place
@spoiler physical tickets at shops would be such a win

@spoiler so many people, ostensibly punks, have tried to explain to me how they couldn't play shows or tour without Instagram and I'm just like have you fuckers never heard of a notebook?

It's all the same mindset: sacrificing any semblance of morals for convenience.

@spoiler promoters will also now only do digital payements which i do not like!

Punk should be cash only !!

@spoiler this is a big anger for me as someone who lives paycheque to paycheque and on an extremely tight budget. So often these presales come about on a time of the month where my budget is used up and the show sells out before I have the money and I either have to scrape up some money, try to weasel my way in or just miss out on the fun entirely.
@spoiler until very recently with the unrelated closure of the coffee shop, one of Baltimore's best small venues sold paper tickets to shows at their door at night and at the coffee shop directly across the street in the morning and afternoon. Never bought a ticket without a coffee. Everybody wins.
