I repaired a Psion pocket computer from 1999 and got it online so wrote a blog post: https://pointinthecloud.com/2025-10-13-154800.html
Repairing a Psion 5mx handheld computer to add to my collection

I had multiple 3as 3cs 5s and 5mxs over the years. Great device, pity they weren't more robust. I also repaired a bunch, particularly the 5's screen cables.
@a_cubed @amcewen Yes - I think perhaps the mechanical design was just too clever. Fortunately the screen cable seems OK, but I might come back to you at some point in the future to ask how the cable is repaired....(Fingers crossed it will be OK for a while!)

The cable can't be repaired once it's broken. Sometimes, it comes loose from the end which is in a socket. That can be re-seated, though it's fiddly to do. The othe end is soldered on. There was an electeonic engineer who used to supply replacement cables (better quality than the originals) and who also offered a repair service, though I suspect he no longer does so. Soldering it on requires a temp-controlled soldering iron and soldering skills.
