@cstross Yikes! Have you got black wallpaper or do you just wear welding goggles indoors? 500W tungsten equivalent seems just a trifle excessive...

@cstross There is some research that suggests shining a light to the back of the knee helps with SAD, e.g using a torch. Also, shining pure red light into your eyes first thing in the morning helps with retinal macular degeneration:
