Hey Dutchies, my previous employer kinda screwed me and seems like they've been more insidious than I first realized.

  • Contract said I'd get perm (no more temps) after.
  • They didn't do that, instead offered me a temp with same clause, and an effective demotion (TL→Dev, they wanted to remove the role) 3 weeks before end of contract.
  • I said that wasn't the agreement, and rejected it, asking them to stick to the agreement.
  • They said no, so no renewal.
  • Now the UVW is telling me I might not get WW-uitkering because I "technically got an offer". This... this can't be legal, can it? Can a company just give you a nonsense offer (against past agreements), and you're expected to just accept it?

    #netherlands #uvw

@iamada In general UVW only looks at was there a extention offer, so like are you out of work because of your own fault or not. As long as the extention offer / new contract did not reduce the hours or total compensation package then yes.

@evey if that's the case, I've been given the choice of: "stay and we'll make it miserable for you" or "go and you won't get ww".

Which is just evil, like, wow.

    (thank you for your input)

@iamada Yes but then the route is accept the offer and call in sick and do that route that the unhealthy work environment is making you unable to work/ burnout
@iamada now if there is a vaststellingsovereenkomst with specific wording that’s the other route then WW is possible

@evey I'm pretty certain I've been quite eloquently, yet horribly fucked then.

🤞 I'm wrong, otherwise things are about to get a lot worse than they already are 🙂

@iamada That sounds a lot like bullshit to me. Seems like a good time to collect up your docs and leave a voicemail with a lawyer about it.

(not technical, medical nor legal advice)

@iamada that’s awful… I’d talk to someone from the vakbond, UWV, or Juridisch Loket for advice.
@hbons yeah it's not ideal. No unions in tech, make too much p/y for HJL, but I've spoken with the UWV, and they're looking into it (send them my contract n some stuff)
@iamada you can still sign up for a union like FNV and they can help out with things (only learnt this recently, got my own shit going on).
@hbons may both of our 💩🌪️'s resolve quickly and smoothly
@iamada talk to Techwerkers, they’re a union specializing in tech workers
