The far-right congresswoman has increasingly broken ranks with the MAGA movement, leading even Donald Trump to wonder ‘What’s going on with Marjorie?’ Marjorie Taylor Greene has hit out at her fellow Republicans for “doing nothing” about rising food and healthcare costs in her latest breach with the Trump administration. In an interview with the conservative broadcaster Real America’s Voice on Tuesday, the Georgia congresswoman warned that letting Joe Biden’s Affordable Care Act subsidies expire at the end of the year would “crush” Americans’ finances. Those subsidies are now at the heart of a government shutdown that’s lasted 15 days and counting. Senate Democrats are demanding the subsidies be extended as a condition of reopening the government while Republicans are refusing to budge.

I feel like she’s just playing the usual games here. She could have not voted for the BBB. The Democrats are simply trying to roll back changes that were made in the BBB.

So, was she just an idiot who didn’t read the bill (possible) or just playing the rotating villain (more probable imho).

I think I kind of believe her when she said she cares now because her adult children’s premiums will be doubling.

And I have an even easier time believing that she didn’t know that was going to happen until after she voted for the bill.

Now the ship is on fire. That loud, annoying rat is loudly abandoning ship. She may act dumb, but she’s making some smart decisions (for her own preservation) right now.

I think her being the “smart” one should tell us something about the rest of the Republicans. She’s not the smart one. The rest of them are confident in the fascists ability to hold power through state violence. She appears smart because she’s reacting to the unfavorable view most people have of the administration (while remaining loyal to Trump and never calling him out by name).

She’s not being fed talking points now; so she actually is just defaulting to a somewhat reasonable position from shit she sees as popular.

She’s not a part of the main leadership and she has only ever made a name for herself by being “more radical”. Well, the Democrats are limp dicks and the Republicans are rounding up people and putting them in labor camps. The only move she has is to literally just say reasonable shit to remain relevant.

She recently was on Tim Dillon podcast and my impression of the situation: She’s a duplicitous lip-server. Shes delusional enough to rationalize the impending healthcare disaster the dems point to as actually “lapses in Obamacare”, not at all because the BBB bill just passed by her party. Also, she is just protesting with dems where convenient because she is capitalizing on some popularity internal to MAGA. It’s easy to hold her party leaders to account and follow through on promises if that means getting some leverage later on.

She reminds of the people who are so astronomically stupid they actually believe that conservative politics will help the average person. Her entire ideology is falling apart in front of her eyes and, too her very likited credit, she’s standing up for the people she represents.

The conservative project is about punching down on liberals, women, POC, LGBTQ, non-xtians, foreigners, and especially the poor. It’s about lifting up the very rich and platforming Nazi assholes like Charlie Kirk.

None of which is going to do anything about healthcare costs, or cost of living. It’s not intended to.

It is nothing new to her. Like many/most politicians, she is an opportunist. She found a way to make it into the house, and now she has other ambitions, she is looking for another way to achieve that.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the russian influenced far right talking point feeds (and indirect but related funding) aren’t influencing this change too.

She is still an idiot. Just maybe she somehow has at least the bare minimum of a stance she is willing to not abandon.

She’s still a “Jewish Space Lasers” QAnon conspiracy nut, gaslit into being a modern US equivalent of a Nazi… until she demonstrates otherwise. And that is deeply tied to that same moral backbone we see on display, of her trying to hold Trump to his word.

The fact that she’s running to the Left of 95% of the Democratic Party in the federal government is telling, and how deep the incentives go within the power structures.

She has everything she needs to be the first woman president of the United States.

Not sure. She was politically inactive until MAGA/QAnon triggered her to become an active outsider. Trump’s first term was relatively milquetoast economically. He did do China trade war stuff, but overall mild. He didn’t impose so many tariffs and largely left the resident immigrants alone, fixated on the border instead. To the extent she might have been dissatisfied, she was on the outside and the blaming if deep state and for the last half of the term, obstructionist Democrat rhetoric worked.

Then she became an insider, but an insider to an opposition party for the Biden presidency. Their blaming Biden and performative opposition still worked even on the inside.

Now she is on the inside of a party that has all the control she imagined and is seeing the administration double down on the most destructive policies and seeing first hand her party pretty much doing nothing except letting Trump unilaterally do whatever.

I think she was a naive gullible true believer and is perhaps finding out that no one actually is sincerely with her in the power structure.

She’s a fool and racist, but I think this is sincere.

The republican party is still the best fit for space laser lady, only because it is the only party where conspiracy nutjobs stand a chance.

She doesn’t give a flip about fixing the republican party, but purely about her polling and chances in the future. That she is capable of this pivot suggests that there is more sleazy politician to her than nutjob. Neither is praiseworthy.
