That’s not the line. In KJV it goes:

For the love of money is the root of all evil

It’s not the money itself, it’s the love of money.

Why money itself? Everyone has a history with money, from childhood allowances to salaries, but not everyone goes full “amoral capitalist selfishness”. If you said “interest” or “passive income”, I would better see your point. 🤔
