I was thinking earlier about how fucked up the concept of “class mobility” is. Like the promise of capitalism is that if you work hard enough you can become one of the exploiters instead of one of the exploited. That’s real crabs in a bucket stuff right there.

My belief is that payment for work should be time-based, not skill-based.

Add extra, as your business can afford, for skill expertise you want to attract, but, 1 hour of Jeff's lifetime (and every hour comes out of our lifetime) is equal to 1 hour of Mary's time.

And that hour is the fractional cost of what it takes your family to live comfortably, with some discretionary excess, for savings, or whatever. It's your discretion.

Else, why give up that hour of our life?
