Apple sites are so wrapped up in future hardware rumors that they refuse to think of a second-generation Vision Pro with M5, coming two years after the original, with a new color option and new strap, as a 'Vision Pro 2' šŸ˜…
@stroughtonsmith I find it particularly ridiculous because of course they want to call it Vision Pro 2 just to validate that it was worth to have the one in front of Wall Street
@stroughtonsmith That's hilarious! It's like they're trying to avoid the "sequel" label, but everyone knows a new generation with upgrades is basically a "Vision Pro 2"! The tech world loves a good naming convention dance, though!
@stroughtonsmith Hi Steve. Apple is not using Vision Pro 2 or Vision Pro (2nd generation) branding anywhere. The only thing was one sentence in the press release making a comparison to the ā€œprevious generation,ā€ but the overall marketing makes no attempt at positioning the new model as a second-generation model. My writing that you screenshotted helped to set expectations just fine.
@rsgnl @stroughtonsmith That, and I'd also like to add that Apple quite literally refers to this new update as Vision Pro (M5) much like the iPad as far as I can see in the footnotes. No second gen or 2 moniker like Joe says.
@rsgnl I would rather talk about MacRumors' shameful ongoing and repeated anti-EU bias than some unattributed line in a roundup screenshot, honestly. That is why I don't tend to visit, link to, or trust the site anymore, after all
@stroughtonsmith @rsgnl The forums there aren’t the same anymore, either #sadface
@JPZ @stroughtonsmith The entire internet and world aren’t the same anymore. I wish everything sucked less too! We cannot control what people choose to say, and if the moderators do try to do their jobs, they are criticized no matter what. Over-moderating. Under-moderating. There is absolutely no winning on that front.
@stroughtonsmith I don’t feel like that’s a very fair response. You chose to bring up the initial topic that involves something that I wrote, and when I go to defend myself, you say that you would rather talk about something else.
