Had a great time at @jawncon, it was wonderful seeing everyone!

Here are some pictures of our booth with contributions from @dialupworld and others. By day 2 there were 9 working payphones, 2 working video phones, a handful of rotary and touchstone tabletop phones, 2 TDDs, the AT&T Sceptre, a WebTV, a Toughbook with a Courier modem, a DisplayPhone, and a UHF repeater with autopatch to take calls over ham radio!

@philtel @jawncon @dialupworld now, imagine each of them begins to ring, one bye one the moment you pass by them ...
@Wintermute_BBS uhhh that’s kinda of how we had them set up haha.
@philtel heh, that's funny. I was referring to a specific scene in Wiliam Gibson's Neuromancer novel, when main character Case walks by a line of payphones in a hotel lobby ...
@Wintermute_BBS Guess it’s time I reread Neuromancer because I had no recollection of that!
@philtel @jawncon @dialupworld Ooohhh a DisplayPhone with an amber screen. Cool!

@philtel @jawncon @dialupworld

that is a very impressive set of hardware! #futel would be proud. i have a bunch of questions, especially about some of the terminals there. very cool. 🤓

aside: i was involved with the (sony brand) webtv, kinda tangentially, when it was shipping.

@Mumonkan @dialupworld here to answer any questions!

Any very cool about your involvement with the Webtv!

Edit: and thanks for the kind words!

@philtel @dialupworld

i guess i just kinda wish someone would do a book on all the all-in-one terminals, like that displayphone, the ones in europe, asia etc. also, just yesterday a friend and i were thinking of setting up some dumb terminals / thin clients around town in alleys etc. haha

and speaking of phones, dialup, bbses and what have you, i was also friends (he lived in the same small town as me, outside of detroit) the person who made #phoneman for c64 😀

.: review number one: phoneman for the c64/128 :. | 8 Bit Underground

Well I put this blog up to be a site for those of us who are melancholy over the old school underground with an emphasis on the applications we used on 8/16 bit computers but so far I've not placed any of the promised reviews of those apps online. Today that all changes, and I
