Not many folks remember, but in the early 1990s they briefly test marketed a rebrand to "Dunky D's", trying to attract the younger, "More Xtreme!" demographic.
But grunge-bedecked skateboarding teens, hanging around and waxing every curb and railing in the parking lot, did not mix well with Dunkin's traditional law enforcement clientel. So the attempt was deemed an utter failure, and was lost to the annals of history.
