@ubuntu Hmm, so you're requiring TPM now too, just like Windows 11?

Will Ubuntu run on machines that don't have it?

If not, then that removes one of the biggest incentives people currently have to switch to Linux (Can't run Windows 11, most likely because their motherboards don't support TPM). :/

@mcbaumwolle @ubuntu Yeah, "... support for TPM-backed Full Disk Encryption..." seems to indicate that it's optional.

But it also gives me this niggling fear that once it's no longer "experimental", there might come a time where you won't be able to install the OS at all if your hardware doesn't support it.

But maybe that's just because I'm still miffed at Microsoft. :)

@GrahamDowns @ubuntu Relatable, but there are several other FDE options that are not going anywhere anytime soon to my knowledge.

@mcbaumwolle @ubuntu Fair. I guess that last option will just be disabled if your hardware doesn't support it. Which would be good. :)
@ubuntu I'm looking forward to upgrading my tablet from 25.04, see what happens ...perhaps I'll finally be able to unlock my keepass db in touch-only mode with the on-screen-keyboard, or via long-press context menu, or anything at all, that'd be helpful. 🖖 😉
@ubuntu Nice. Though I checked for updates and it didn't show yet from Main update server. I guess I'll have to wait a bit...
