skulking around looking at new Gopher clients & just learned about Gophie! it's a really polished Gopher browser. It doesn't render gopher://baud.baby but it handles my nonsense in such a way that the site is still easily readable & usable which is the mark of a solid browser, I think. handling the weird edge cases in a way that makes things still functional is should be higher on people's lists than actually supporting them.

Gophie — Open Source Gopher Browser

Gophie is the Open Source Gopher browser for Windows, macOS, Linux and many more operating systems with Java support.

@Cat
Do you have any recommended gopher browsers (on Linux) that handle edge cases well too?

@seismic_elm for GUI Lagrange is the high bar; https://gmi.skyjake.fi/lagrange/

it doesn't do gopher://baud.baby perfectly but it does a good enough job.

CLI I use phetch, it'll handle pretty much anything you throw at it; https://github.com/xvxx/phetch or VF-1; https://sr.ht/~solderpunk/VF-1/

those are my tried and true browsers but there's a bubbling ecosystem of new stuff around lately.

Lagrange

@Cat
Damn. Totally forgot about Lagrange. I used it for Gemini some time ago. I will try phetch though. The all-in-one (bookmarks+good rendering+keyboard nav) CLI is very appealing. Thank you for your suggestions!
