The shifting pronouns midway through threw me off for a while because I couldn’t track how many characters were active in the scene. Basically, though, the lord is transfem. The farmer addresses her as female (and maybe compliments her chest, not sure). She thanks him, because she was boymoding (attempting to present as male because that’s what’s expected of her), but the farmer recognized her as female anyway. The farmer remains entirely unaware of what happened.

I think (though I have low confidence in it here) that he is complimenting her rippling muscles, which isn’t necessarily what the peasant sees, but what the peasants thinks is appropriate for someone in armor.

Fuck If I know what ‘her “male faileth”’ is supposed to mean, though.
