Apparently theres a new wave of people joining mastodon, and with them a new wave of self-appointed cops "welcoming" them with long lists of mostly fictitious "rules" they need to follow.

This is a social media platform, with many different ways to use it. It's fine. Mostly, just try to be decent to other people, just like you should try to be everywhere else.

@ralfmaximus @mattblaze IMHO, I think they've discovered that a social media platform that's owned by one person can be compromised a la Twitter. But that's just me thinking out loud. Which I can do on Mastodon without having to look over my shoulder.

@chuckthewriter @ralfmaximus @mattblaze nope its because they perma-banned a really important bluesky elder who was absolutely fundamental in establishing accessibility early on, primarily through encouraging alt text as a cultural norm. The mods have been shit forever, but they crossed a huge fucking line today.
