I have a drawer like this too. My wife keeps complaining about it, but every 5 to 10 years I manage to untangle a cable out of this mess, on a sunday evening show it to her and say: Hah you see, that is why I am keeping them! - to which she normally replies with this "special" look on her face and a very brief but powerful "Aha, well done ....".
