Today I saw someone toot, in dismay, people are posting their everyday life to Mastodon when they could simply buy a diary for $1.99. I can't stop thinking about this.
What if this is all they have? What if they're isolated with or without people in their life? What if the only kind word they hear this week is, "That's cool"? I say, post your mundane. Post anything you want. While being silenced everywhere else, don't be silent here.

@LilPecan When social media was invented it was about keeping up with family and making new friends.

Then people started promoting stuff they use to make a living and businesses started requiring that they and any of their "personalities" have a presence online. And they started LARPing their official personalities to sell TV shows, magazines, books.

People who came of age in that era forgot that there was a reason average people wanted to write. To be heard, to be seen, to see others.

@LilPecan with me, feeds that are nothing but links to their substack or YouTube channel get likes but no boosts, at best. If you want to say it, say it here.

If someone links to an article that says a thing that is really important to them, great. If it is behind a pay wall, boosts will be removed.

I'm not here to buy a thing. I'm too poor for that anyway.

Say it, share the pictures. Get angry, or share joy. Make stupid jokes. Promote ideas you feel strongly about.

Be human, be friendly.
