Thanks to a wonderful mother/mother-in-law looking after our kids for the weekend we are heading to Green Party Conference for the first time in a few years! Perhaps I'll do a thread with pictures of everyone I meet or see?
It's busy getting in!
Go and say hello to Ellen at the Labour Behind The Label stall this weekend! Crucial campaigning for garment workers globally 👇
I've already run into great people from Bristol, Oxford and Manchester. Here's Jo Sergeant from Bristol. We're in the Path To Parliament session!
Just witnessed our first speech disguised as a question! It took 10 minutes! 😆
Forgot to say that we got handed our conference packs on registration by the CEO of the party! Some might see this as not their role. But I think it's great that the Green Party has an ethos that everyone mucks in 😁
If you're wondering why I'm not livetweeting what's going on, it's because there's a lot of pretty internal-facing stuff where we raise our shit and hope that the shit we raise will get sorted out by those in named roles. No political party is 100% transparent and that is how it should be.
Listening to the welcome to Bournemouth speech, then trying to eat my noisy crisps during the rapturous applauses for Carla introducing Zack #crisps #noisy
"We have MOMENTUM in every single corner of England & Wales", says Zack. I see what he did there. #momentum
A chill went down my spine when Zack talked about his family background, such an emotive part of the speech in light of yesterday's horrific events #gpconf
Zack just thanked patriots who care for elderly, sick and those who need it across the country as well as patriots in the Green Party who are working to transform our country. #gpconf
Frankie Says Relax...
Bristol row at #gpconf - from least visible to most: Heather Mack, Patrick McAllister, James Crawford, Anna Bryher, me
All set for the first plenary of #gpconf #twix #sharing
Rachel Millward speaking and she references our fivers adding up to thousands which add up to millions...and it was ENOUGH. It made me think of the parable of the loaves and fishes. Very interesting.
Sitting on the Red Line for Palestine at #gpconf on Bournemouth Beach and thinking about what it's currently like to look out to sea in Gaza
Busier than plenary for @zackpolanski.bsky.social interviewing @owenjones.bsky.social for his Bold Politics podcast!
Keir Starmer is a humongous liar. I always forget that this needs to be said over and over again, because it is evidenced.
That @greenpartyemma.bsky.social smashing it against private jets and for better rail connections from the #gpconf stage!
And now, friends, to the main event... #gpconf
I am sitting on a publicly-run train with working wifi in England for the first time in my ENTIRE LIFE! Thanks to all at #gpconf, it was pretty inspiring, even for this old hand 😁💚
