bone conduction earphones, day 2:

the use case for bonephones is listening to arctic outpost radio from a pls in VLC on my phone while i'm in bed

i think i really want some bonephones with flash in them so i can load 'em up and not be dependent on a phone

@davidgerard what is the significance of the bed to bone conduction?
@hipsterelectron i can listen to stuff without disturbing others but also hear the senile cat yelling downstairs cos he woke up confused
@davidgerard "Call for you on the bonephone" has so many meanings.
@davidgerard I think part of your use case may be an excuse to continue to say bonephone.

@davidgerard these are the swimming ones, but they’re pretty much the normal OpenRuns but with a bit of flash in them: https://shokz.com/products/openswim as a bonus you can listen to them while underwater

e: fuck I just noticed the discontinued button. maybe they’re cheapish on eBay?

OpenSwim

@davidgerard of course the more expensive ones aren’t discontinued: https://shokz.com/pages/openswimpro

the OpenRun Pros are supposedly nicer, but I’ve heard really mixed things about audio quality, in that their reproduction is much less flat than the regular ones (but there’s more bass, which the kids love)

Shokz
@zzt @davidgerard they were superseded by the openswim pro which is of course more expensive but are available. Just got some. Judging by the file system, they are a tiny android device inside.
