Implementing /usr merge in Alpine | Alpine Linux

Alpine Linux

@ncopa Congratulations (to you, Pablo, and the whole team) for getting it to work! I may not be a fan of the change, but I have to recognize it's a tremendous team effort that shows Alpine is capable of tackling big changes 😊
Great job @pabloyoyoista seeing this through!!
@ncopa aaaah ive been using alpine happily for years because they never broke my system like debian, ubuntu or arch did. I’m scared about this change now
@pancake @ncopa so do a dry run, if it works, nothing is going to break. And if not, it's a great way to open a issue
@fossdd @pancake @ncopa It seems to have been pushed on me through edge? Now with wifi broken, seemingly due to my iwlwifi kernel drivers now not existing on the system no symlink being created to /lib/sbin/firmware.. Presumably pointless as .ucodes didnt survive the upgrade anyway... And the kicker... Cant restore my btrfs snapshot volumes to get working again and onto lts...
@ncopa oh, this was already performed by debian
@ncopa congratulations, despite the protestations from some. Please consider keeping a genuine X server. #AlpineLinux is a very good distro.
