First CarPlay test post update, I had your same issue in a 10 minute drive… a few hours later, i had a 30 min drive, and had no issues… sigh.

aszwez@caseyliss @stephenrobles Tested my wireless CarPlay setup today post patch and I still had the drop happen in 3 of the 5 trips I took with the car today. I did try toggling off wireless on my phone on two of the three occasions and I was able to get CarPlay to reconnect. So I’d say they did not fix this issue in the patch
