Lamentations began with a description of the fallen state of Jerusalem, alone, desolate, its people exiled, its enemies ascendant.
Many think #Jeremiah wrote #Lamentations; it is possible, but the work has no author attested. He is intimately acquainted with the destruction of Jerusalem.
The first chapter of Lamentations is an acrostic, with each verse beginning with a successive letter in the Hebrew alphabet.
