Trump Officials Offer $625 Million to Rescue Coal

The new effort, which includes opening 13.1 million acres of federal land for mining and eliminating pollution limits, aims to save an industry that has been declining for decades.

@davidho correct me if I am wrong, but isn't a key reason that coal remains in the ground is because new mines will have to survive far longer than Trump's presidency, and could be challenged by a change in government?
@davidho It's completely bonkers. And the signal this gives off will harm efforts elsewhere to reduce CO2 emissions.
Is it just me, or are we now copying PRC out of some kind of weird envy? The "South Florida Sea" thing, military fanfares, now flexing on... coal? 🤔🥲🦍
@davidho Bailing out coal mine owners won't increase coal mining. At best it'll fund their lobbying and defense funds.
@davidho Where's the market for it?
Well, Epstein did say Trump couldn't understand a balance sheet.
