COPENHAGEN MUNICIPALITY MAKES CUTS ON FOLKETS HUS
After a long and messy process in the municipal bureaucracy it's clear, that the municipality cuts the funds to Folkets Hus. It means that the grant we have gotten from the municipality, is halved in 2025. From next year it risks being cut completely.

The money has been given to us for our social contribution in Nørrebro, and because our presence has contributed to decrease violence in the neighbourhood. It has been used for maintenance of the house and for our activities, that are all volunteer organised without any employees. Now they have been silently taken back. Initially the municipality didn't even want to admit that they had made cuts.

This is just the last attack out of many from the municipality against the free spaces and the volunteer run or alternative culture houses in Copenhagen. Previously this year they tried to close down Kapelvej 44, before that they put political censorship on the culture houses around Palestine, and now lastly they have put Sjællandsgadebad under competition

Folkets Hus will survive without municipal support, we have for almost 50 years. But we will not accept these types of attacks on our houses
