@stux When I had sciatica I discovered the confused tangle of the sciatic nerve. Intelligent design? Hardly.
@DaveHenniker @stux I was taught that common sciatica is often because of the anatomical variations among the population. The sciatic nerve can go above, below, or through the periformis (butt muscle that lets your put your feet out in ballet's 5th position). When it goes _through_ the muscle, then it can pinch that nerve affecting it's afferentation. So a "tight white ass" syndrome often causes sciatica. YMMV.

A compression fracture to my spine following a fall at the ice rink did it in 2011. Injections and TENS helped for a whIle but eventually it cured itself.
