🏛️ This Day in History – Sept 28
The death of Pompey the Great.

So I wrote a poem.

Pompey, You Murky, Magnanimous Fool

Pompey, you murky, magnanimous fool—
Now watch as Caesar makes you his tool.
You climbed for heights with a sword and a plot,
But not even Crassus could buy what Caesar had got.

Though you won wars—Spain at world's end—
History said it was your rival we needed to send.
And you, poor Pompey, you’re no raging flame—
Just a Banana Republic in marketing shame.
Not the volcano, certainly no pirated storm—
Just a cautionary tale in sad lukewarmish form.

But Pomp got the last laugh—how utterly absurd!
Caesar? The silliest salad. A Racine racket, last that I’d heard.
