Headed up to Hornsby this weekend to catch the final day of the Hornsby Art Prize.

(Hornsby is a satellite city/exburb on the edge of the Sydney metro area. It's about 27km from the Sydney CBD and ~30km from the Parra CBD.)

@ajsadauskas This looks great! How did you find out about the Hornsby Art Prize?
@misswired @ajsadauskas I used to live in Hornsby around five years ago, and have gone in previous years.
@ajsadauskas It's nice that it's so walkable.
@LillyHerself @ajsadauskas If you're near the centre of Hornsby, you can comfortably live there without a car.

I know, because I did it for ~5 years or so.

I'll do a post on it later this week, but most of the housing around Hornsby is low-rise 3 storey apartment blocks, with some taller towers.

The two main streets through the main shopping precinct are almost fully pedestrianised.

There's a large shopping centre that has multiple entrances onto the pedestrianised main street (and a bridge over the top).

The train station is on the main train line on the east coast of Australia. So you can catch a train all the way to Newcastle or even Brisbane if you want.

It's on two train lines. One of which basically does a loop of the Sydney CBD and the northern suburbs of Sydney. The other runs through both the Sydney CBD and Parramatta to the Blue Mountains.
