The thing to bear in mind with any centralised biometric ID system in the UK is:

1) Do you really want palantir (Peter Thiel) whose secondary market is insurance to get their grubby paws on it?

2) Do you want Farage and his group of nerdowells to get their grubby paws on it?

3) Bad actors including The US and criminals around the world?

They aren't qualified to handle that data.

@onepict missed the memo, guess this is being proposed rn?

German/other ID cards have a chip built in that can be used for proof of persoonhood, which *could* be very useful in an internet filled with deepfakes *if* people aren't doxxing themselves in the process... (And this is a distinctly non-biometric approach)

@douginamug yet again a Labour Government wants to introduce an ID card scheme. Historically Brits are against this sort of thing. Our grandparents were very glad when they were abolished.

Every UK adult will need ‘Brit card’ digital ID under Starmer plan to tackle illegal migration

@douginamug I also do not trust this Government not to farm it out to the current crop of digital partners.
