I love being accused of a bunch of things.

I'm still going to put out an update, that I work on, in my free time, for free.

Though, it's probably going to be my last one.

It has nothing to do with people like the one quoted. I've made software for 20+ years, I've run into neck beards like this in real life.

In the past 8 months I've decided to live life more in person than virtually.

Thanks again for everyone who has contributed, it has been a fun hobby.

@trunksapp Seems simpler for folks who don’t like that it isn’t open source, to just not use it, rather than criticize the developer(s).

@sandwich @trunksapp I am baffled by some of the responeses and allegations I am reading here. It's not like there isn't a ton of mastodon clients to choose from.

@padraig @trunksapp Same here. I mean, arguably the most popular app (Ivory) isn’t open source, if I remember correctly. Same with Mona, which I use. App developers aren’t required to post source just because they’re developing Mastodon clients.

Worse still, is stuff like this will push app developers away from Mastodon. There’s already a lot of elitism here as it is, which I think dissuades people from staying.

Yes, as we can just see. I love how much cool Open Source stuff exists. But personally I’d rather have a well crafted app that suits my needs than something open source that doesn’t work for me. I’m also willing to pay for something I enjoy and use a lot (preferably not as a subscription ). And trunks was free. That’s what I really can’t get over. You neither have to use it nor pay for. If you don’t want to, just don’t.
