This is a GREAT video about why farmers voted for Trump. It REALLY opened my eyes. @sarahtaber describes, with evidence, that the farmers of today KNEW what Trump was going to do (Trade war) & voted for him anyway. They expect free money.

They wanted cuts in environmental regulations, & got them.
They aren't Farm workers, they're FARM OWNERS, more like landed GENTRY.
They got lax labor rules.

They're MULTIMILLIONAIRES, & Trump gave them huge tax breaks.

@old_hippie @sarahtaber it really changed my thinking. I realized I still was holding onto perceptions of Farmers from DECADES ago.

The part about lax labor laws, that are like slavery, was something else that was new to me.
I'm from the Midwest, & I want to believe the best of Midwestern farmers, but I realized I was thinking about my friends from 40 OR 50 years ago. Not the multi-millionaire's of today. How do they justify getting slave labor? Just good business!

@spocko @sarahtaber I'd probably go with 'both'. The landed gentry and the honest to goodness family farmer.

The former will have had eyes on the latter's land and happily encouraged them to vote for Trump.

And of course the VC crowd hoovering up property on the cheap.
