Windows 10 support ends on October 14.

Help the people around you continue to be protected by helping them switch to Linux. They don't need to go buy a new computer just because Microsoft made a decision for them.

@fedora @Endof10 @JonChevreau There are free solutions for getting updates to Windows 10. It is mentioned on occasion by Steve Gibson on Security Now, who is unhappy with the entire Win 11 thing. Remember, many people use software that does not exist on Linux and they must use very specific software. Heck I still have a 2010 Mac mini running because I have not found a substitute for Elfdata XML editor on any platform.

Personally, I don't think that EndofTen provides enough of a reason alone to move to Linux, and I'm already using Linux (and love it).

I think folks should move to Linux because they want to, not because they feel they have to. And right now, they don't have to. Free or paid.

So if folks really need their Windows software, then they can hold out on Win10, then buy their next Windows 11 box.

Linux distros will still be here. :-)

@paulc @fedora @Endof10 @JonChevreau

I of course think there are a thousand really compelling reasons one would want to move to Linux. But the choice is just that, a personal choice.

@paulc
Let's be realistic, most people aren't going to either upgrade OR get updates on 10. They're just going to keep using 10 without security updates and contribute to the next big botnet.
@fedora @Endof10 @JonChevreau The service I’m am thinking of might not be free but merely inexpensive.
@fedora @Endof10 @JonChevreau The Windows security patch people I was thinking of is Zero Patch. $30/year and the patches disappear once you unsubscribe from their service. The Patches occur only in RAM so it won’t modify anything on your drive.
@fedora @Endof10 My pc supports windows 11 and i don't use it . Windows is not an operating system it is a spyware and i don't like spyware
@fedora @Endof10 Finally and definitively switched from windows to linux, c.q. fedora workstation, half a year ago. The only hassles I had were hassles because of my requirements that "normal users" would never have. This is really the time to switch, also, or actually,, *in particular* for grandpas and grandmas.
