Look at 3 random responses from yesterday and see if there's a story you'd like to read. Share it.

@melodyeverall “Fun times with live-in housekeeper” ÉriĂ© definitely approves
@kagan “San Francisco ensemble urban fantasy” I’m extremely curious about this one
@petealexharris “Stupid ideas masquerading as stories.” Stupid ideas can make good stories

#wordweavers 2025-09-02

Do your protagonists deserve a happily-ever-after? Why/why not? Will they get one?

Both Esther and ÉriĂ© would certainly deserve but they won’t get one đŸ«€

#wordweavers 2025-09-03

Compare your MC in the beginning and the end of the story. What changed? What's the same?

Esther will gain freedom (and superpowers).

#wordweavers 2025-09-04

Have you made eleventh hour additions to your cast? Who was it, and what led to that decision?

I add Raymond-12, a Moreau bat based assistant. Why I need him would be a spoiler

Describe the most unusual/intriguing marketing opportunity you've encountered.

It may just happen currently but I can’t tell until I’m sure it will effectively be. I’ll edit this toot if it has a successful outcome. Cross fingers for me! đŸ€žđŸ€žđŸ€ž

#wordweavers 2025-09-06

What is your MC's earliest memory?

Esther remembers her ride on her poney

#wordweavers 2025-09-07

MC POV: What can't you accept?

Esther: “Unfortunately, I tend to accept a lot of things. I'm probably like those frogs who are put in cold water, and then the temperature rises slowly enough that they don't realize it and end up getting cooked.”

#wordweavers 2025-09-08

Do you have a favorite among your cast of characters?

No surprise, I prefer the trio Esther, Erie and Lady D’Arcy over the doctors and Sir James.

#wordweavers 2025-09-09

Share a snippet with an animal in it.

Do Moreau’s creatures still animals or already humans ? I guess it depends of who answers to the question !

If you had to show that a character is a good person within one scene, how would you do it?

A good person is someone who acts egoless, ready to risk themselves to help others.

If you had to show that a character is a bad person within one scene, how would you do it?

A bad person is someone who never cares about others and making them uncomfortable in order to pursue their goals.

How much does your SC fear death?

Erie: “DeĂ€th I dĂžn’t fear; I learned yĂžung that lĂŹfe can brĂŒtally end and that Ăžne shĂžuld lĂŹve everyday lĂŹke ĂŹf the last ĂŹt’ll be”

Does any kind of spirituality play a role in your story?

It’s Victorian times, people are supposed to be Christian. That said most people in my story aren’t very religious.

Lady D’Arcy used to setup a dark cult, nothing spiritual for her, just a way to manipulate people

Do any of your characters create any form of art?

Esther is an harpist

#wordweavers 2025-09-15

Share a snippet with a color in it.

Yesterday I needed to draw Estherafter being away from her for a while because of the We Love Vintage market. And even more, I drew her traditionally and in colours. I think it’s not too bad for a first time in years.

What is your SC wrong about?

Erie has been raised and trained by Lady d’Arcy for a few years. Because of this, she lacks of many of the social benchmarks and her moral standards are biased.

Also her senses are often more sensitive than humans, especially her smell.

All this can lead her to misinterpret signals and suggest wrong answers to Esther

[Illustration: Erie suggesting wrong activity to Esther]

Does your antagonist have any specific fears?

Lady d’Arcy fears of ageing, she did everything she could (surgery, dark magic) to delay it. That’s why she was so happy to find a way to rejuvenate effectively when she had been exiled, ironically.

#wordweavers 2025-09-18

[Illustration: Lady D’Arcy when she had been exiled and later when she met Esther]

Is there anyone your antagonist misses or longs for?

ÉriĂ©: Lady d’Arcy misses her maid, and one of her goals is to grab her back.

How does society think about nature and its protection?

Victorian era saw the beginning of the concept of nature protection. That said, in Esther and Erie universe, United States doesn’t reach West Coast and thus, the Yellowstone park hasn’t been created in 1872.

#wordweavers 2025-09-20

Would your MC contribute to any discrimination in their world?

It’s a complicated topic: Esther is less bad than most people, but she wouldn’t consider EriĂ© as her equal, both racially and socially. A layered society is normal for her, just it shouldn’t be enforced by violence.

She’s a suffragette who strikes for women’s voting rights but in her mind it should be reserved to people who pays tax

#wordweavers 2025-09-21

Is there gambling in your world? Do any of your characters participate in it?

Yes and yes: Esther’s father started his career on Great Albion sidewalks playing some gambling games. In fact he always saw life as a gamble, and has often won
 until he loses nearly everything.

#wordweavers 2025-09-22

If anyone in your world has imperfect vision what, if anything, can they do to correct it?

They can put glasses on

#wordweavers 2025-09-23

[Illustration: Drs Joyce and Jekyll both wear glasses]

Just for fun, share a 5 minute sketch of your MC. Stick people are fine.

#wordweavers if you enjoyed today’s prompt, you may be interested in doing #Inktober (that’ll start next week)

I’ll do it again with a story about how Esther and Erie discovered each other while coming back to Great Albion

How is information preserved in your world? Oral tradition?
Libraries? Hard drives? Other?

Libraries as temples of knowledge

#wordweavers 2025-09-25

Does your character pay particular attention to any aspect of their appearance? Why?

Her appearance is extremely important for Esther: as a lady of the Victorian era, she can change six times a day

#wordweavers 2025-09-26

Has your MC had any amusing injuries?

Injuries never be amusing for Esther, but highly traumatic.

#wordweavers 2025-09-27

Is your MC more likely to fight, flee, or talk their way out of trouble?

Esther’s decision to come back to Great Albion is a flee, sort of.

#wordweavers 2025-09-28

If you could treat your characters to a meal in our world, what would it be?

A tiramisu

#wordweavers 2025-09-29

What author, from any time, would you want as a mentor?

Don’t know, I’m not even sure I’d want one

#wordweavers 2025-09-30

@art_of_goulwenr

I always admire those who can actually draw/paint/etc. Something I wish I could do but, given hours I couldn't do what you did there. 😁

@ringles thanks! As I always say, it’s the result of countless hours until I can get that result in a few minutes. The thing is, I enjoyed those countless hours while most people wouldn’t

@art_of_goulwenr My MC/narrator deals with a similar dilemma.

Lady Vaeol, as a Damaya female in the Lashunta Matriarchy and an outrider-officer, enjoys pretty much the pinnacle of her society's entitlement. She has accepted minority and non-normative members (a korasha female and a male Korasha who rides Shotalashu) into her flag-pod, and has also stood up for minority cross-clade rights. She is wholly aware, however, that the more impactful these things become at a social level, they begin chipping away at her entitlement.

@Reid_Sisson those changes take times (typically it needs 3 generations for that something non-normative can become the new norm)
