OK so I got the Podcast up and running, unsurprisingly this now means loads of things happening I don't understand. Federation doesn't appear to be working. On reading up, maybe this is due to a Cronjob... What is a Cronjob? Is it like a blow or hand job? Sounds kinky and don't know what to do. Paths in command line are very confusing to me, especially using Yunohost as paths often vary to those published in instructions elsewhere.

Also, trying to find a simple resource for editing the RSS feed so I can add splits etc.

Very interested to find more people on the Fediverse who understand this stuff and don't mind associating with an idiot! #AskFedi #Podcasting2_0

@inpc cron is unix’s way to run batch jobs, usually in the background #Fascism-alert
@jaypeach53 cron jobs are fascists?
@inpc yeah, my instance (on Firefish) has sticky hashtags which don’t show on the reply screen. So as a consequence, hashtags not apropos to the current subject often appear in the strangest places.
@jaypeach53 fair enough, I mean from my perspective Cron jobs are causing me problems much in the same way fascists do…
@inpc cron can be a godsend for the purpose of running something in the background to do some database work. And in unix, database can mean something as simple as a flat file. #Unix
@inpc and IDK, i’ve been using various unix OSes since the late ‘80s. Did alot of cron stuff in the 90s. #Unix
@inpc So you can bounce questions off me. #Unix
