@davidcelis I was Rails-adjacent for about a year and a half, professionally, in the mid-2010s. That was sufficient for me to learn the following bits of information:
1. The existence of DHH;
2. His relation to RoR; and
3. What a massive self-important dick he was/is.

Imo, the only necessary DHH facts.

@davidcelis FWIW, I think 2009 was one of the last times I was remotely interested in Ruby on Rails and the surrounding community.

The "perform like a pr0n star" thing and resulting reaction just kind of convinced me to spend time tinkering with anything but. DHH seems at home there, as far as I can tell.

Not to say I haven't occasionally done Rails for a paycheck since then, but that's about all the fond regard I've got for it.

I haven't seen others notice this, but if you cross-reference his statistics with the wikipedia page he links it seems likely that when he says "native Brits" he actually means the "White British" ethnic group.

He says that "In 2000, more than sixty percent of the city were native Brits. By 2024, that had dropped to about a third.". On the linked wikipedia page, it says 73% of the population of London was UK-born in 2001, going down to 59% in 2021, so that's probably not the group he's referring to. However, the "White British" population was 60% in 2001, and 37% in 2021.

I haven‘t followed DHH‘s writings in recent years and just checked his London blog post, now.

In the beginning it reads like a reasonable disappointment about how London has changed with its inhabitants - not unlike a lot of criticism against mass tourism.

But then his post quickly descends into full blown racism. This is really disgusting!
