you know what i 've been so pleased w/ about #mastodon ?

i don't think i've seen a single post from LIESocial here. it's wonderful😊💙

maybe it has to do w/ this instance, or i'm just not looking in the right places, but that used to make me crazy over at bsky

people would post his lies, hate & bile directly on bsky like they were taco's personal hype man. then it'd get 1k ♥️s & 🔁 spreading the filth everywhere

it was disgusting. i made many memes begging people to stop, but no. they got likes

@WorldTravelerAll7 The point of Mastodon is to make your feed to be according to your preferences and expectations.

Many instances also put emphasis on safety and moderation, so this is another advantage.

@dawid well i can say this - i have 5 followers on #mastodon , and i have more actual interaction w/ people here, than i had w/ 1.4 k on bsky.

for months i was asking liberal media & people what their backup plan to yt was when google caves & bans people at the orange dotard's request. i asked dozens of time - not 1 peep from anyone

3 weeks here, i discover #peertube. not saying it's comparable to yt, but it is a viable alternative. no one had even told me it existed.

we'll have to build it😁💙

@WorldTravelerAll7 Interactions are important part of #mastodon and #fediverse.

As for backup plan, liberal, progressive or socialist media, generally have no backup plan. While we can see more progressives and socialists being active on fediverse, media are still sticking to X and Bsky. And to be frank, it's the matter of time as Bsky will fold to Mr. Orange. Google, X and others are already having very close ties to Trump and are actively sharing data with ICE and other agencies. Would they start banning people? Yes, they already do so.

The fact that Bsky was able to take most of people exiting X makes such migration irrelevant because platform changes while risks remain the same.

There is still a lot of work from technical side to make fediverse being comparable to some of platforms, like #PeerTube you mentioned, but this can be addressed. The biggest challenge is that those who are exposed to risks are still still using platforms that are owned by US-based corporations looking to please Trump.

And I will say what I'm always saying: it's better to move earlier instead of moving after getting banned to have to start from scratch.

@dawid This is very well said. & thank you💙

i learned that last bit the hard way. i'm still squabbling w/ bsky. not to appeal my ban, but for them to give me my shit back

i'm a little behind these days when it comes to tech, but i can still learn😁

i wrote a stack "Operation Engage" asking how💙We start forging a path towards a Star Trek future rather than Dune. I should start floating it here bc i think the #fediverse is where it could happen

Operation Engage

Plotting a course through fascism to a Star Trek future

WorldTravelerAll7

btw, that is now outdated

i need to completely update this to refocus on #mastodon & the #fediverse & to include #peertube & other new information i've learned

but i never had enough knowledge & information to actually plan #OperationEngage which is why I was reaching out to those who do

I just want some comfort in knowing that there are smart people thinking about this & working on it, so humanity doesn't complete fuck ourselves & the planet 💙

@WorldTravelerAll7 Good luck with the initiative and surely it's good idea to update the content to take into account Mastodon, PeerTube and other part of the fediverse.

There are many smart folks working on building strong federated ecosystem. Team at Mastodon is doing amazing tech job under the mask, same things happen regarding Lemmy (alternative to Reddit), PeerTube and others.

As for Vebinet, that our company launched, we work on making an easy and user-friendly gateway to fediverse. Some people are complaining that Mastodon is not as easy as other platforms, so we want to address this problem (it's bit like Ubuntu which is much easier Linux to use than Debian).

So people, even some companies, are working to make the fediverse a vibrant, open and safe space and without depending on single company or whims of some billionaire. And everyone can make contribution by spreading the word, sharing ideas, encouraging friends to join and many, many more ways.

@dawid that is fantastic💙 especially for us who've gotten old & less tech savvy😜

i switched to libreoffice about 10 yrs ago💙 My only complaint is it doesn't utilize touchscreens yet. i've been using 2in1s since '07, & being able to take notes & make sketches on the fly is crucial to my work

but what i'd like is to switch to a linuxOS. i heard ubuntu is good. & to sailfish for my phone. still clueless tho

operation engage isn't just tech. it's messaging, economics, etc to create a blue💙world
