Protestors need to know how to contact their local ACLU. If you’re doing this level of protest, probably should preemptively havea contact with them and memorize the contact phone number
There are legal services you can subscribe to that give you a phone number to call if you get arrested and they’ll send out a lawyer. The one I have is $300 a year.

PREACH! Mine is $26 a month and well worth it. I can get a lawyer on the phone within an hour for any trivial question or thing I need to investigate.

For those not in the know, it’s basically legal insurance. Many services are free, EOL docs and such. I believe they’ll draft a letter for free as well, haven’t tried that. For actual litigation you get 30% off, which is significant.

My divorce lawyer was fucking awful. My child custody lawyer, Jesus, he put a stick on my ex-wife and mopped the courtroom floor with her dumb ass.

I originally subscribed because I wanted an employment contract review, and $300 was way less than hiring a lawyer directly. I’ve kept it because I’m critical of the current administration.
Could you link us? I’ve never heard of this sort of service.

They’re above board, no bullshit. I’m not aware of any other such firm in the US. I mainly know because my dad was an insurance salesman in the 90s. Worked for 20 firms, only sold you what fit your needs, not locked to a single outfit’s offerings. He was a fan, and given his morals, I had a look. Plus they’re originally from Oklahoma, like me!

Company before last offered us the benefit, and since I already knew about them, I signed up. Funny thing, I’m not sure I’m paying a dime extra for the “benefit” since I quit that place.

People have commented online, “I’m not in legal trouble and I don’t plan on suing anyone, don’t need it.” But legal issues are like violence, they’re up in your grill, instantly. In any case, it’s damn nice to literally have a phone number in your pocket for legal aid. I’ve mostly used it to ask, “Can they do this to me?”, “What recourse do I have?”, “What if I do this thing?”

LOL, the law ain’t what most think. Yes, they can do that. No, you don’t have recourse. Don’t do that thing. But still, having a real lawyer to talk to is damned instructive. It’s the difference between the rich and poor.

The ACLU will probably be charged alongside any protesters anyway, just to eliminate using them for legal counsel under the guise of "because I said so" and Judge Cannon et al will just accept it

Last time I checked the constitution is still in effect

Don’t be intimidated by the Trump administration. That only does them a favor.

Depends on the judge. But yes every one of these infringements should be fought.

Last time I checked the constitution is still in effect

Last time I checked, it’s not self-enforcing.

No but we can enforce it
last time i check the gop, see it as a meaningless piece of paper.
