watching (too many) iphone reviews - every one is so surprised at how great the base phone is this year

yea, shocker, it's gotta last a year and half this time - next year it will not be refreshed in the fall with the premium phones, but the following spring

not a single one mentions this!

@js why would that be a relevant thing to mention in a review? It has nothing to do with how good or bad the product is and it is a rumor, not a fact we will know for sure until next year. So why mention it?

@jeremyh totally relevant as an explanation of why the base model is as good as it is this year, instead of framing it as a "hot take"

but perhaps asking too much from the flip-it-around-in-your-hand-few-times reviewers vying to be first to publish in this interim period before Friday

@js except that isn’t why it’s as good as it is? lol and like I said we don’t know for sure that it won’t be updated until 2027, that is just speculation as of now.
