Sepia FanThe explanation of why the moon "appears as a squished ellipse" is a bit misleading. The cause is not some imaginary bending of light (wtf?), but rather that the moon bounces off the edge of the Earth and is temporarily deformed as it rises again—anyone can understand this by throwing a ball.
